Spirit Wholesale’s Wearability Policy

Environmental Policy
Spirit Wholesale endeavour to ensure that our clothing contains no dyes or chemicals that are hazardous to the health and that our clothing is manufactured under conditions that minimize detrimental effects to the environment.

Our prints are made without the use of PVC, which contains hormonally disruptive chemicals. We do not use allergenic chemicals such as nickel, and we have also banned formaldehyde, AZO dyes and other colouring agents containing heavy metals.

We are working on incorporating OekoTex 100 as our minimum environmental standard.
Working to protect the environment is an ongoing process which we will continue, for we believe that it is the right thing to do for our children’s health and for the world we live in.

Ethics Guidelines
Spirit Wholesale place very strict demands on itself and its suppliers. Not simply because it is worthwhile to do so economically, but because it is the only right thing to do. We want to be able to guarantee our customers that our clothing is made in a way that respects both the environment and our fellow man.

We have joined the UN’s Global Compact, consisting of ten basic principles for social responsibility. We do not accept slave labour, discrimination or child labour from our suppliers. We support the right of employees to organise, and we require that the work hours in force in the country of manufacture be observed.

We have put special focus on whether our subcontractors’ employees earn minimum wages that satisfy the daily needs of the family.

But we are not naive. We know very well that the culture is different from Danish culture and that our suppliers do not feel we should intervene in these conditions. That is why we must constantly focus on the subject and argue that better conditions improve productivity and employee satisfaction among the supplier’s employees. We must also make sure that our guidelines are observed in practice. Trust is not enough.

Social responsibility, like environmental improvements, is an ongoing process that takes time and effort. But we are thrilled about each and every improvement that is a result of our requirements.
